We threw a party at Harvard University where 450 students danced, no scrolling allowed.

I love that we did this. Opal's party at the Harvard University campus in September with the Harvard Reverb club: 450 students without phones having fun.
Parties are better when no one is scrolling.
From The Harvard Crimson article https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2024/10/3/digital-camera-comeback-think-piece/
"All attendees were required to block apps on their phones for an hour, encouraging the use of disposable or digital cameras. Advancing technology has brought forth a virtual world that dominates all aspects of life, so much so that living in the present moment has become a challenge, a goal, and even a trend that people want to follow. "
Our bouncer dressed the part. The message was clear.
The poster. Students had to either leave their phone at the door or scan this QR which automatically blocked their apps for an hour using the Opal app.
Thank you Andy for leading the charge from Opal and spending 1 week in Cambridge to make it happen. Hoping we'll get to publish a "making off" video soon on this because a lot of fun stuff happened.
Thank you Rick and the Harvard Reverb team and volunteers for the great partnership!
Where should we do this next?
